I thought they were better than the books. Much better actually.

Robert Parker had a great and respected career. But his last few Jesse Stone books, it was REALLY obvious he was only writing pitch ideas for TV shows. The books were not nearly as well written as his earlier work.

But they are rebooting it, which would imply they keep it as similar as possible. If they wanted to make a totally different show, then just do so. But if they are telling me this is a reboot, I expect to see things as similar as possible to the original, after all, they are using the popularity of the original as advertising and bard power for the reboot.
Maybe because they have already gotten 10 relatively profitable seasons out of rebooting Hawaii Five-0 with action man SEAL McGarrett and MacGyver with Jack Dalton shooting at everything in sight while standing next to Mac
