I missed the first responders commercial. I will go to YouTube to see it, if it's up.
It's not new. It was a re-run.
That commercial and variations of it have been airing for at least the last 6 weeks prior to the Superbowl, so it was nothing new.
It aired during the NFC/AFC championship games, all the wildcard games before that, and the last two or maybe three weeks of regular season play. I first saw it during a Bengals' game (and they weren't in the playoffs). A former Bengals quarterback was one of the highlighted stories, which piqued my interest.
They're both known for their drink of choice. Carrie drinks cosmos and the Dude drinks white Russians. The tag line was "Change Up the Usual".
That is true but they are changing it up as part of Stella Artois' partnership with water.org. With every purchase of a Chalice or a Stella, they donate to water.org which helps provide clean drinking water to those in the developing world.
The information regarding the campaign was in the ad. Most folks never noticed it:

Well yeah, but you specifically asked why they chose Carrie and the Dude for the commercial. I was answering that question, not going into a detailed history of Stella. There partnership with water.org isn't new, and the commercial wasn't really about their water.org partnership. They have other commercials that highlight that amd their chalice campaign.

Oh, okay. I must have seen it then but not realized it. Thanks.
I also meant to say I really enjoyed the Stella commercial. I thought it was genius!

I liked the way The Dude pronounced "Artois."
