I just started watching this today. I just finished watching the North and South trilogy (the 3 American miniseries based on John Jakes' book series about the Civil War), so this is a light, welcome change to that. Nice to watch an 1800's series without hearing slurs used about black people.
Started watching Bridgerton. I lasted through the first episode, but then had to turn it off.
My opinion: Insipid writing, weak casting
If you have read the books, or seen other period romances, you will be disappointed. It's definitely not Austen.
Netflix is trying to emulate Masterpiece theater and British shows. I'll stick with Masterpiece, PBS, Acorn, and Britbox. But props to Netflix for trying.
Netflix is so woke, that 100 years from now, if they're still around, they will be doing shows on the Founding Fathers, and not one of them will be of European stock.

I hate that this biased title is what's being used for this show. The show really is good.
To be fair, as much as I enjoy the show, the plot lines are pretty much your standard romance novel/bodice ripper stuff, so the plotlines are pretty basically obvious. But the *cast* is so outstanding that they make it intriguing, even if you do know exactly how it's going to turn out.
(I just really want to be Lady Danbury when I grow up. )
I watched the show and thought I liked it, but was happy that it ended, especially since to me the episode dragged with it being 12 to 15 minutes longer. And without the sexual tension between Daphne and the Duke, they are now just another aristocratic couple with a child. Didn’t see the Penelope thing coming, but that seemed weird, since Whistledowns voice was a much older woman’s as voiced by Julie Andrew’s...perhaps she was telling the tale of what happened many years earlier.
It will be strange to not see Empire dresses since that seemed to be all the women wore!
I didn't really like it but did watch the entire season.
Will not watch next season.
