The actor who played him said he signed on for a short story arc. Possibly that’s true or maybe he wants to strike while the iron is it and see if he could get starring roles in films. And maybe the second season storyline just wouldn’t be as interesting without all the sexual tension, the will they or won’t they get together...and being just a married couple.
The second season will focus on Daphnes brother... I think the older one...

I think it's both those things. It does sound like they always intended each season to focus on one sibling, because it sounds like that's how the books are. I imagine he doesn't want to go from leading role to side character, he wants to use his successful leading role to get more leading roles while he still has a high profile.
There was nothing wrong with the casting, it was actually quite good.
I could not wrap my brain around Queen Charlotte being a person of color or the apparent acceptance of other black people into Regency English society. That did not sit well with me. I am a history buff before I am a romance buff.
However, we enjoyed. We dished about the costuming because we noticed the deliberate color palates and richness of detailing in the costuming. There was a lot to look at.
We cheered the romances and jeered the villains. We rolled our eyes at all the soft porn. And we can't wait until the next season (hope there is one!)
I mean it's fiction. I don't know why everything being fictional is fine except for that aspect.
The black Queen is not at all confusing. A white King married her and from then on, in this fictional world, race was meaningless.
It would be nice if this were the case in real life!
Another color blind series coming up is a black Anne Boleyn.
"Black British actor Jodie Turner-Smith is to play Anne Boleyn, wife of English King Henry VIII whom he had beheaded, in a three-part psychological thriller commissioned by TV station Channel 5."
