I learned about Mr. Ed from "Ren and Stimpy" (where he went by "Mr. Horse"). His catchphrase was: "No, sir, I don't like it." I presume it was a parody of the original Mr. Ed, meant to appeal to the parents who knew that character, but go over the kids' heads. Not unlike the sexual references in "Rocko's Modern Life". For example, an ophthalmologist holds Rocko's eyeballs from underneath, and says "please cough". (I was 12 when I saw that episode, so I was old enough to have that had this procedure, and therefore get the reference.)
It seems a lot of people don't remember The Drew Carey Show. My all time favorite of the 90s.
I remember it! It was awesome. The scenes with Drew and Mimi were hilarious. The guys always talked about Buzz Beer: a coffee-flavored beer with caffeine in it. Funny how today, PBR makes hard coffee, which is like a beer/coffee hybrid.
From the 1980's, It's Your Move with a young Jason Bateman
From the 1970's, Here We Go Again with Larry Hagman and Nina Talbot
Someone else posted Today's Special and that's one of the first tv shows my daughter ever watched. It's Canadian and I'm in the US so I'm not sure how we saw it and nobody else I knew even heard of it. I don't even know what channel it was on.
I remember almost all of the shows already mentioned. Plus:
My Mother the Car. A talking car (voiced by Ann Southern) predating KITT. Jerry Van Dyke's mother is reincarnated as a car.
Witchblade. Yancy Butler
Dollhouse. Eliza Dushku
Early Edition. Kyle Chandler gets tomorrow's paper today.
Almost Human. Cop has male android partner.
Mann and Machine. Cop has female android partner. Yancy Butler again.
Tru Calling. Eliza Dushku again. She relives the same day over again to prevent murders and stuff.
Setting the Wayback Machine to the 1950s:
Decoy. 1957. Beverly Garland as NYC policewoman Casey Jones. Bet you thought Angie Dickinson was the first.
The Restless Gun. 1957. John Payne.
The Deputy. 1959. Henry Fonda.
The Range Rider. 1951. Jock Mahoney
Rin Tin Tin. 1954.
Yancy Derringer. 1958. Jock Mahoney.
Casey Jones. 1957. Alan Hale Jr (The Skipper on Gilligan's Island.)
I'll stop now and let the rest of you catch up.
My mother loved Kyle Chandler in a series that was on before that.....Homefront.
