Comparing a show that run for eight seasons, and a wedding that took place in the third season, to a show that just started, and has aired five episodes, is not really a comparison.
If one enjoys it, watch. The only way I'll know if it gets better (or worse) is to keep watching. Each episode broadens the story, and makes the characters come more alive (IMHO).

Yes. Like I tell anyone, and you just did in a way, if you don't like it JUST DON'T WATCH IT.
At the end of the day it's just a story, that's all. Like Romeo and Juliet (but with rape). I don't happen to like Shakespeare but don't go out of my way to criticize his stories.
Does this show have plot gaps? Of course it does, most do.
I also happen to be enjoying Rings of Power, which apparently, according to some people, is a character flaw I have.

Well, it is too early for me to give up on it. But I think by this point I have given it enough time to know that we are going to see a milder, more gentle, version of the original GOT. Especially judging from the reactions the c-section scene got in the media. That scene was nothing particularly out of the ordinary by GOT standards, but every news outlet talked about how "shocking" it was. I think maybe the creators are creating for a different audience than the original. I hope I am wrong.
The show isn't paler than its predecessor because of the lack of graphic sex and gratuitous violence. The story just isn't as good. The characters are not as compelling. The plot has much lower stakes. Even the quality of the sets and costumes isn't as good. All in all, it is just an inferior show.
Upping the sex and violence won't change that. Increasing the pornography will not increase the quality.

Agree
I really have no desire to see naked flesh as a replacement for quality writing
And now we are losing two of the cast—replacements for Aliscent and Rhaenyra are supposed to be aged out from what I read??? https://screenrant.com/house-dragon-...trailer-video/
I just don’t think that is going to be a positive change

The history this series is based on covers decades, and starts when Rhaenyra is a youth. There is no way they could use the same actor to play both a teen and a mature woman with kids. Sure, they could do it with lots of makeup and CGI*, but it makes more sense to simply recast them. From what I understand, they've found actors who bear remarkable similarities.
I guess we'll find out.
* But then everyone in this forum would just complain about the poor makeup and CGI.

Compared to the first 5 seasons, yes. Compared to the last 3 seasons, no. If anything, they're at least on par with each other with HOTD possibly being slightly better.
One interesting thing that one article points out: The Crown, one of the best known and most highly regarded anthology type series, has completely changed the cast twice, after the 2nd year and the 4th year. It's bittersweet, as we've come to accept these actors as their characters, but also necessary. Nothing worse than poor CGI trying to make 25 yr old actor look like a 75 yr old queen.
