Also in episode 3, Rick realizes they could don zombie blood/guts to not be detected, yet, we don't see anyone use this tactic until Season 4 when Carol attacks Terminus. Michonne also figured out how to use walkers to repel other walkers, which once again seems to be a one-time thing.
That's the second episode, "Guts." It's one of numerous examples why Frank Darabont's season remains the best.
The reason that tactic isn't employed regularly is because it's better to see people get chased and overwhelmed. Fooling zombies (or lamebrains, heh) isn't what the show's about. It's about people being stupid, and slightly less stupid people taking advantage of them.
Well, at least it's good to know that while society was busying collapsing, everyone still managed to get all the black clothing from Sears and L.L. Bean.
That's the one thing about so many dystopian SF flicks. No matter how bad society collapses, fashion never dies.
Thanks for that Burt image, now my eyes need a bath.
Seasons 1-3 were brilliant, as good as anything else out there. Part of this was the dynamic between Shane and Rick, along with the backstory. The Governor and everything to do with him was also amazing.
The Terminus thing where they have everyone lined up and they're slitting throats was where I just lost interest. Later on I found Negan ok as a villain I guess, but not nearly as interesting as the Governor. I think the show really lost something when Shane died. Rick is ok, but he's kind of a stock good guy character. You need other strong actors/characters to keep the show interesting.
Season 4 I thought was good, not brilliant. I watched all of season 5 hoping that it would get better at some point. Once I hit season 6 I think I watched bits and parts since my wife kept watching. I don't think we've watched or have any interest in watching anything in season 7 or beyond.
A few of the characters I just find annoying, including Carol and Carl, and to some extent Andrea.
I completely agree. We loved the show originally, but stopped watching it after season 6. In fact every one I know personally, that had watched it, stopped long ago.
I stopped watching because it became depressing.
I realize the situation, but you're telling me they never found humor in anything or cracked a joke?
The scenery is always so dark. It's hard to figure out what is going on. Wish they would turn the damn lights on.
Being that this is the last season, I gather it's inevitable that major characters will start to get killed off the show, and soon. Hope they star with Princess and Yamaka

What?? I’m not sure where humor enters into this discussion.
