I have been a fan of this show since it's start 4 1/2 years ago (can't believe it's that long.....).

While I found tonight's episode pretty funny, I still found it a little weird that suddenly we learn after all these years that they all struggle with a smoking habit. Was this a desparation for ratings? Did they "jump the shark"? Anyway, simply found it a little peculiar.....anyone else think this?

They hinted at Robin's smoking when she was going to move in with Ted. She was sitting in the bathtub smoking a cigarette and saying she's going to miss it since she can't smoke inside the apartment. Then there was the episode in which Robin was smoking a cigar with Doogy (can't remember his character's name). I just have to ask,...Is being a smoker a requirement to be a TV/Movie actor?

I forgot about that one.

I wonder if they are smokers in real life. I read somewhere that Jason Segel is, but it was also in the context of a cast interview where Allyson Hannigan says that one pet peeve on the set is putting up with his smoking.....it was a couple of years ago I can't find it now to post.

HIMYM is definitely one of my favorite shows, but I've been tolerating it more than enjoying it this season. I hope it gets back to the fun it was in the previous seasons.

The best show of the night is The Big Bang Theory. Last nights episode rocked! Penny and Leonard's mom (the home girl's) seemed to hit it off well!

I am hardly a diehard fan of this show but I do like it and probably catch about half of the shows every season but, yeah I never recall any of them smoking cigarettes previously.
What also struck me was that Robin (I forget her real name, just that it is rather unusual) looked like she has put on a few pounds. Is it just me or did anyone else notice this? Or has she looked that way awhile and I just haven't seen the show enough lately to notice?

I believe she recently had a baby.

Both women in the cast were pregnant during most of last season. They were constantly being hidden behind tall tables and large handbags.

And Robin's "real life" name is Cobie Smulders.
