Hey Guys, My son wants to go here(Doesnt speak much Spanish), so do you guys have any info on it?
Yeah, go as an exchange student. All classes are lectured in Spanish, so I don't know how he is going to survive them. It's not worth the extra cost as an out of state student. I suggest he go to the University of Hawaii instead, better reputation, almost same climate (Honolulu is drier), and everything is in English.
I am told that the UPR system is the cheapest state university system in the United States. I have heard that some classes are conducted in English not sure which campuses though - I want to say UPR - Mayaguez but I could be wrong.
I think some of the private universities are entirely/mainly in English.

Classes are all in spanish, so I would say it is going to be a difficulty for him, unless he wants to learn spanish.
Classes in Mayaguez are also in spanish, as far as I know.
Interamerican University used to have a curriculum in English. Some of it was geared towards military personnel but it took place in various places. Not sure if they still have it.
I studied at UPR and then studied a graduate degree at IU.
Perhaps a university in south Florida would be a better bet? The climate is about the same and there are many Puerto Ricans/Cubans/Latin Americans living in the region. He'd be an out-of-state student, but still on continental US. Classes would also be in English as well.
I have heard good things about the following universities in south Florida:
some classes are in english. depends on the curriculum. science can be in english. geology & marine sciences for example.
Yes that is true. I had asked what major he was considering because I studied at IAU and now UPR RP and all my classes have been in English. UPR has many programs in English, i.e. ESL, English Lit, Caribbean Lit, etc...
I think this would be a wonderful opportunity for him to enhance his studies by attending UPR. He will pick up more Spanish and have a change from the everyday continental US lifestyle. It will probably be very exciting and rewarding of an experience.
