Considering Amazon Air now has flights into San Juan, could this lay the groundwork for future Amazon Logistics delivery in Puerto Rico?
I presume they would start with the San Juan metro area if they were to start delivering in Puerto Rico. Right now Amazon packages flown on Amazon Air into Puerto Rico are handed off to the US Postal Service in either the Cataño or the San Juan sorting centers for last mile delivery.
Amazon is already has Amazon Air flights into Puerto Rico, except the last mile is handed off to the USPS; statehood has nothing to do with it. Plus Puerto Rico residents are eligible for free shipping from Amazon into Puerto Rico with a Prime membership (just not one- or two-day shipping like it is on the mainland); this is only in Puerto Rico and not in any other US territory.
In addition, Prime members in Puerto Rico get free standard shipping on most items sold or fulfilled by Amazon, a benefit which other US territories lack. Exceptions include hazmat, some extra large items, or some items with geographic restrictions set by the manufacturer.
