I filed my Florida unemployment claim on 10/6/2012. I logged in to the system today (10/16/2012), as instructed, to claim my weeks for the first time, which I have not done yet. When I logged in, I was asked to submit five work-search contacts for the week ending 10/6/2012, which was the week ending on the day I filed my claim. I did not contact the required number of employers that week, as it was before I had even filed my claim and I did not know that I had to. What should I do about this now? Is it possible to just skip that week and start claiming my weeks beginning the following week? Or should I select that I did not contact the required number of employers that week, and explain why? Thanks for your answers.

This.

Did you work the week of October 6th? It is odd to file a claim on a Saturday. Clearly, you might have worked that week.

Claiming on sat put you on the hook for that week. If you claimed sunday then you wouldnt have. Bad luck of the draw. As Ariadne said, just call em and explain to them your error . When were you actuall laid off / terminated / quit by the way?

FL requires 5??? Wow, I'm having trouble coming up with 3/week for PA. How do you guys cope with this? I'm guessing I'd end up applying for jobs that I was in no way qualified for. Or, if I was qualified but didn't want it (because of the commute or something), I'd have to ask for an outrageous salary. Wow!
