I Wonder if it benefits us to not claim them. Though they live at home.\

TurboTax and HR Block expected to 'update' on Thursday evening:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/17/turb...tax-break.html

I would still advise those that have not filed yet to wait, if possible, though.

No word on amendments yet for those of us that already filed....

HR Block has updated their software - now shows I am getting a refund and the amount (previously, I owed). This doesn't mean we won't have to file and amendment, just that the software is now reflecting the new numbers.

I can't speak for Turbo Tax since I don't use that.

Also, with the AGI lowered due to UE not being taxable income (up to 10200), you may be eligible for the earned income credit (depending on your income).

I think the AGI is lowered only if the AGI is at the level you need it to be at, without the credit.... It doesnt work in our favour.

UPDATE for those that already filed: IRS commissioner says adjusted refunds due to UE taxes will be automatic!

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/03...k-market-today

Taxpayers who already filed their 2020 returns should not amend them to take advantage of tax breaks that were created by the new $1.9 trillion pandemic relief legislation, the Internal Revenue Service commissioner, Charles Rettig, told lawmakers on Thursday, saying that the I.R.S. would automatically send refunds to those who qualify.

My state NC includes UI benefits as income. I wonder how I am going to get back my over payment from them or do states that include UI benefits just go by the original number and not forgive the 10.2K like the Feds are doing?
