I am interested in sacred geometry which basically means to me that any geometrical shape which may have an effect on its environment. My interest is in mandalas, crosses, any symbols which can be shown to effect our surroundings.
As an example, pyramidal shapes have been rumoured for years to have effects on razor blades and people claim that their blades(in the days of razor blades) would become resharpened if left under a pyramid overnight.
It does not appear to make much difference what the structure is made of but it seems to be the shape and the dimensions which are important to the workings of the device.
Rather than duplicate what I said previously I have linked to another thread I started in the Weather forum (see CD topic link here) which shows how I could see this 'technology' helping to make our life better.
Does anyone feel there is anything to this subject or have any experiences in this area ?
I thought i would start with the Mandelbrot set as you like mandalas, sometimes called the Thumbprint of God which is visual math, a set of complex numbers, that always comes back to a shape that looks like a heart, cardioid with a circle
It is made to represent the fractal space of infinity, quite possibly the fractal layout of our universe, the patterns and mandalas are very striking, so don't have a drink before watching the youtube video below, ha ha!
I am an astronomer so was aware of the retrograde motion orbit of Venus, that traces a cardioid and a pentacle in the sky, however this is an illusion by Earth and Venus in orbit around the Sun but having different orbit speeds, link below:-
If you are looking for a shape in Sacred Geometry, i would have interest in 2 shapes, one is the Golden Decagon Matrix showing 2 opposite pentagons, pentacles, decagon, decagram and 3D dodecahedron in center, on link below:-
The pyramid/razor blade thing was debunked decades ago. The concept of sacred geometry isn't about ascribing magical powers to it. It's about a belief that certain complex geometrical forms or special formulas that create symmetry, are part of a Divine code, and as such, are signs of the workings of the Divine in nature and architectural principles.
Very well said, i'm not writing today any more so i thought some poetry would define the question:-
FIFTH ELEMENT.
I am a ratio noticed by few,
A pyramid, a flower, in math and in you.
A golden mediocrity in planets and space,
Fibonicci's forty in my fifteenth place.
Although quite small, i stretch to infinity,
The ancient Greeks raised me up to divinity.
Fraternities exploit me without knowing my MEAN-ing,
Some people maintain i have a mystical leaning.
Tomorrow i'll look at the mysterious Dodecahedron and the link to the pentagon and pentagram in classical history of western geometry.
Another example of mathematical beauty, Euler's identity: e**(i*pi) - 1 = 0
Where:
e is Euler's constant, the base of the natural logarithms (2.71828182845...)
i is an imaginary number, the square root of -1
pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (3.14159265358...)
** means raised to the power
* is the multiplication symbol
Like the Mandelbrot set, the equation and description for Euler's identity are short. A computer program to generate the Mandelbrot set can be written with only 18 lines of C++ (see link). Why the rules of the universe should be such that this kind of beauty is hidden in simple mathematics is one of the deepest of unsolved (and likely unsolveable) mysteries (in my estimation, it ranks up there with "why is there something rather than nothing?" and "what is consciousness?").
I really like that poem - it speaks to me, although the meter sounds slightly wrong to my ears.

I am glad to see this thread has inspired some of those interested in mathematics to respond. Although I recognize that it is supposed to be the universal language, I also recognise that there are perhaps structures which have an effect on the environment too. For example crop circles are said to have an effect on the area in which it appears and magical and religious ceremonies have used pentancles and circles to denote borders within which 'effects' are supposed to occur.
I think the historical use of these structures tells us that these symbols do have some real effect on our external world.
Where has the razon blade sharpening effect been debunked?
The are five platonic solids of perfect symmetry, three of them the Tetrahedron, Octahedron and the Icosahedron have triangular faces, a fourth the Cube has square faces.
The fifth, which i'm most interested in is the Dodecahedron which has pentagonal faces.
Plato believed that the first four corresponded to the elements which the Greeks thought the material world was composed: fire, air, water and earth. The fifth, the Dodecahedron corresponded to quintessence, the element of the heavens. As Plato put it "God used this solid for the whole universe, embroidering figures on it".
Could he be right?
Please note that link below is yet to be proven, but it is very interesting!!!!
Phi or Fibonicci numbers when set in a graph can be a dodecahedron or a golden decagon matrix, pentagrams or pentagons, in numbers it can be 5^.5*.5+.5, or 1.618
Strangely Phi, the golden ratio has been found in the quantum world as shown below:-
