I really enjoyed the first two episodes of "Broadchurch"but I am not sure I can sustain interest for another 6 weeks at only one episode a week ( especially as I am away for 2 of those weeks). I don't know why they drag those things so long.

I thought Olivia Colman was superb but then again when is She not ? A grossly under-rated actress IMO who can do comedy and drama equally well. And David Tennant is pretty good too ! It was weird seeing the guy from "Garrow's Law" ( another series I loved) playing Danny's father, he looked so different.

I loved "Shetland", I still have to watch episode 2 but no 1 was excellent. A series would be great. Those wonderful shots of weather beaten moors and islands make me pine for Scotland. Hebridean beaches are far more my idea of heaven than tropical ones ! I start feeling all maudling thinking about places like Ardnamurchan and the White Sands of Morar....

Did you see "Jack Taylor" the Irish crime series ( only two episodes). I thought it was quite good though the strong Irish accents did make it more of a challenge for a foreigner like myself....

These shows are going to have to come across the ocean. I can't wait to see the one set in the Shetland Islands. Don't be selfish BBC. There are plenty of Americans wanting to see these as a break from the reality shows.
