Well the UK will account less than 10% of the GDP of this bloc, so guess how much bargaining power it will have.

Germany will seem like a benign giant accounting for only 1/4 of the EU GDP with the departure of the UK.

I think that some Brexiters think that the US and the UK will sit down like equals. Try asking Canada how that works out for them dealing with a neighbor with a GDP 12x its size. Poor Justin wakes up in the middle of the night screaming "No Donald, no. Dont beat me!"
As badly as Trump has treated Canada, I have no hope for the UK getting a good deal with him. When he's gone they can get a good trade deal with us. In the meantime, we can continue trading as we do now, with WTO standards. I still think that if Theresa can get the Queen to throw in a carriage ride around London if he gives a good deal, there can be an acceptable deal. There is no good deal to be had while he's in the White House.

No question of a fair or good deal for the Brit's with the Americans. A hard lesson, but increasingly suspect the shoe is increasingly fitting the Remain foot, but hardly plain sailing.

London, has feared better than expected, with only 5,000 banker jobs leaving for off shore. That equates not more than 1% of the financial industry. Personally I'd favour, a more equal distribution of those in that industry around the EU.
I suspect EU laws will need to be more 'flexible' that will allow that very dodgy behaviour , that will probably be balked at outside of London.

Of course its 'leaving', it is a democratic country, whether you voted leave or not it has to leave...............its called Democracy and if the country doesn't follow through it would basically p*ss on Democracy and I think there would be BIG trouble.

Parliament can indeed decide on a final vote giving a host of reasons that have come to light, since the original vote.

It won't be welcome in quarters but division in democracy, is something hardly new.

not leaving, after having given the British people the opportunity to vote and the majority voting for leave, would destroy any vestiges of Democracy in this country, most people would never vote again.ever.
it would also destroy any respect any MP, leader or PM has ever enjoyed and they will forever be treated as cowards, traitors and liars, sounds harsh I know but that will be how deep these people will be reviled.

The majority in Parliament do not want to leave the EU, and never did. To them, it doesn't matter how we voted, they are determined to thwart the will of the people.

As you say Paul, cowards and traitors to British democracy. Many of them will pay the price at the next General Election. By then, there will be a new Brexit party up and running. They will get millions of frustrated and angry votes.

If we don't leave the EU, this will be a running sore than can never heal. Anger and resentment will never end. This is how violence can start, and as we found in Northern Ireland, once it starts, it's hard to bring back under control.

There are people in Parliament who will be speaking of such things quietly among themselves. We are not fooled by the lies being told of a desire for a 'people's vote.' We know it will be fixed to ensure remain win, if only narrowly. I would not be surprised if they give the vote to 16 year old kids, who don't know their arse from their elbow. Anything to get the result they want.

It all stinks to high heaven, and the stench won't fade with time.

Good morning....... I spent most of my time eating, drinking, and strolling the streets of Benidorm...... I actually saw very little telly news, but some for sure.

It all just is amazing and crazy, watching Parliament tying itself in knots. Gawd knows what the final outcome is going to be.

The backstop is never going to get through Parliament. They can word it any way they want, but it will never get accepted. It needs to have a time limit, but the Irish will scream like stuck pigs if that happens.

We should have got out of that cursed island decades ago. The Irish blew us up for years, and now they're messing up Brexit.
