Many non-English speakers would easily say that the US and England are the most similar only because they ignore or have no idea of what countries like Ireland, Australia and New Zealand are like.
But equally, a lot of Europeans and Brits particularly have perceptions of countries like Australia or New Zealand that are very out of touch with what those countries are really like. Put aside a few superficial things like cricket, and they're very different than the U.K, physically, culturally and economically.

The U.K. is a very "European" country to most Aussies.

Aussies are the most 'British like' people I have EVER met, 'a lot of Southern Hemispherians and Aussies particularly have perceptions of countries in Europe that are very out of touch with what those countries are really like. Australia is a very "British' country to most Britons

Identical? Really? Even those from Vietnamese, Chinese, Polish, Macedonian or Chilean backgrounds? Or jackeroos working on Outback cattle stations?

You are aware the UK has a huge ethnically diverse population? So yes, most Australians are very similar to Brits... Of course if they are Italian or Greek migrants they are culturally going to be more like those countries, same as those living in the UK, but generally speaking the "average" Aussie is similar to a Brit...

In terms of ethnic diversity, the U.K. is still a long way behind Australia though, where over 50% of the population was either born overseas, or has one or more migrant parents. Add to that migration from across the globe since Australia's earliest days. It makes defining an "average" Australian a rather problematic exercise.

Culture, values and attitudes are also reflected in most of the institutions and "ways of doing things" evident in society. And in things like systems of government, healthcare and even types of dwellings and use of public transport, Australia and the U.K. have gone down very different paths.

Most countries listed above don't resemble Britain in the perspective of legal profession.

Do any judges and lawyers (correctly speaking Barristers and Solicitors in British term) still wear wigs?

None. Only the judges in some former British colonies still wear wigs like those in UK do.

I think Ireland is the most similar to the UK. Both are islands and have similar weather.

The country of Ireland is very like Britain, the people of Ireland are very like the people of Britain, Australians are VERY British in their ways but the actual look of the country is obviously very different, so are the people of Ireland, I get on very well with both. Americans have a very hard time distinguishing Australians and Britons (I know that from experience) in the same way that Britons have a hard time distinguishing Canadians and Americans. We ALL share a kind of mutual 'Anglo culture' though, language is a HUGE tie that binds us together. I say that Ireland resembles Britain the most (they are next door) but Australians are the most 'British' type people (or if you like the British are the most Australian type people).
