You haven't really answered anything here? I'm not sure what the Empire has to do with anything?

Then tell me why the UK 'must' put a border across the middle of its own territory? I still fail to see why the UK can't do what EVERY other nation on the planet does and have its border where it should be.............on its actual border!?

Exactly why Britain is passing legislation to amend the current situation and to stop CJEU interference.

The UK is a sovereign nation and can decide such issues itself, as for The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU )involvement, there has never been one parties courts as arbitrators in terms of any trading agreement, and an independent body was requested by the UK. I fully support the UK Government removing the CJEU and taking full responsibility.

The UK Government set to deal with the Protocol’s unequal governance, removing the role of the CJEU in dispute settlement and providing the means for UK authorities and courts to set out the arrangements which apply in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Protocol: the UK’s solution -GOV.UK

Exactly - and no other trade agreement in the history of the world has allowed one members courts to rule over another.

It;s ridiculous, and I am pleased the European Courts are being taken out of the equation through new UK legislation.

For the 827th time..........

Basic law 101: The moving party carries the burden......If I go to court and say: "hey judge eastome called me names, I could use some money" I'll be expected to show proof......

In Brexit, the UK was the moving party and carries the burden of leaving other countries no worse off by its actions. But the UK is now reverting to cheapskate mode and trying to dodge the fare by taking a free ride on the bus.

I really believe that the UK Brexit negotiators thought that the EU was prepared to extend generous trade deals and other privileges while allowing the UK to revert to it's independent form of existence.

I also believe that Britain's departure pissed off Brussels considerably.

You cant have it both ways though. Either you're in or your out

Indeed, there was a good deal of hubris involved, and the UK electorate was sold a pig in a poke.
