The actual pronunciation is "wooder" with a "d", not a "t". Sounds just like wood with an er on the end. It's utterly absurd and I grew up with it. Where I'm from cow is also pronounced really oddly; something like "cale". The whole Philly, SJ, Baltimore accent is pretty brutal but not as bad as Boston's in my opinion.

yeah, that "d" pronunciation is much closer to the actual sound. Any long O sound gets rounded over in that region:
Cone sounds more like "coon"
Boat sounds more like "boot"
But the O sounds are rounder if you know what I mean.
Did anyone see the movie The Shipping News with Kevin Spacey. I think it may have been set in Maine but I couldn't enjoy the movie because the accent drove me nuts, it was really weird.

Pronounciation is one of those words that most people get wrong, they say and spell pronounce with the 'u' but drop it when speaking and writing pronounciation
That's because it IS "pronunciation"! "Pronounciation" isn't a word. Why would you think you're right and everyone else is wrong?

It is pronunciation, but bizarrely the original post was talking about dropping the "u"...?
That would make it "prononciation".... ???????
Prononciation: In favour of turning into a nonce. Nonce v. (colloq.): British insult (I shan't go into the details...)
Even though I wanted tomato in a Subway sandwich, I went without because I knew they couldn't understand me and I refused to say it their way.

It is pronunciation, yes, but the original post was suggesting (OK so it was probably a typo) that people drop the u!

Oh dear, I think the person that told me it was 'pronounciation' was the same one that told me the world 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary
