Can you just imagine it now though.... immigrants wont want to go .. its not their country..and get out of it... others will say they have depression or some other mental illness as to not go... it would be bedlam..
a medical test is part of the "call up" process and would weed out any with real mental illness, the malingerers would be found out. the Army would soon knock them into shape.
the migrants would have to fight or leave the country.

used to be that citizenship was a requirement to enlist.

Didnt the illegals moan about living on the barge that had been used by our military beforehand as well as rig workers...was ok for them but not for illegals, but then the fat cat lawyers found a way round it by saying there was Legionaires disease on the barge...strange that.....isnt it..then it was that their showers had no hot water....
one third of the population of this country are obese and too fat to fight.
I think what was being suggested by the Head of the British Army General Sir Patrick Sanders was more along the lines of possible selective conscription and a Regular Army of 120,000 backed up by a Reserve of around 500,000 trained citizens who could be called upon.
This is slightly different to full conscription and mobilisation however the general message is that Russia has now moved to a war economy just as Germany did prior to WW2 and Britain and her allies need to respond and prepare themselves.
A good start would be in relation to further increasing current capabilities and reserves, and increasing defence spending to 3% whilst increasing our armaments industry and weapons manufacturing capacity.
Got a call yesterday from the nursing home in Grimsby. Uncle Cedric 97 years old WW 2 Vet heard about a call up. "Where are they ? Let me at em" he was roaring at the nurses. They brought him his old Army tin hat and gas mask (faithfully kept for the past 80 odd years) and he also wanted his 303 Enfield with bayonet which they told him wasn't possible of course.
He calmed down a little later on and started singing "We'll meet again" and "The white cliffs of Dover" then dozed off into his afternoon nap.
Woke up later and thought he was in France. Tried to grab the derriere of one of the young nurses, thought she was Veronique, an old flame from Normandy.
Anyway it's good to know that there are those who are still ready to answer the call of duty.

Since our government only see the people of the country as numbers, and nothing more, this has been going on, in, and after, every war we've had. We are nothing more than a workforce that needs to be restocked after any losses, and even while losses are being made. It's a crying shame we have a class system where part of the population are seen in this way.

I dont think the class system exists anymore, not in the way it did, its more now a case of the "haves and have nots".
mind you the population always was "cannon fodder" in any war especially WW1.

And often those cannon fodder, were the remnants of a rugged tough surviving population of many previous wars/battles, and not those that had left other sinking ships.
