This blog post suggests that it doesn't really make sense for transit to carry significant numbers of bicycles though: Human Transit: the photo that explains almost everything (updated!)

It would still be important to have a safe space to leave your bike though, especially if theft is an issue.

Seems like most of the stations include bike lockers like this: Bike Lockers | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Though these don't really come in handy if you are trying to ride the bus.

20,000 people commute from Palmdale to Los Angeles. You really think bikes are going to help?

Bike alone? No. Mixed mode it? Absolutely

1. Cycle to commuter rail station.
2. Get on commuter rail.
3. Cycle to work.

Speaking of cycling long distances, I actually worked with a guy who cycled into the Boston waterfront from Lynn, MA.

Yes and I know a very well paid cocktail waitress who lives in Malibu and works in Las Vegas. So?

So?

What's your point? That cities should not develop bicycle infrastructure?

Nah that it is a pimple on the back side of urban planning.

When people start acting like it is serious you need to bring them back to reality.

Nice, that surely qualifies your opinion.

There are real economic benefits to investment in bike infrastructure:
