Which is an out of the way schlep for someone in the Thousand Oaks unless he's on the far north end, say at Sunset Hills.

Thousand Oaks is a great town. As folks mentioned, better climate, beautiful rolling hills, and family oriented. Santa Clarita is fine too, but it's not as upscale, and the climate is a little more extreme

The children and teenagers from TO and WLV (at least 5-10 years ago) were, generally, very status conscious. Oaks Christian is one of the best high schools, academically, in the county, but I never seriously considered it because of the way the student body behaved at sporting events. There were kids from just as affluent of backgrounds, if not more so, that were more down to earth--from Malibu, Ojai, Carpenteria, Santa Barbara and Montecito (including boarding school students).

My son had some lovely friends from TO, and the above is a generalization, but it was observed over several years.

Do you mind elaborating on what you mean by the way the body behaved at sporting events? Thanks.

You made a good choice, Thousand Oaks is beautiful, and a great community. I lived there for two years.
