In a large city you get more of everything, including such behavior. And there is anonymity, which can translate into not having to take responsibility for your behavior. And I also think that some people need to encroach on others' rights in order to feel effective and powerful. Also, some people feel a loss of face if they do not prevail, and they will do anything to regain face. And I also think that the congestion in New York contributes to a climate of anger and potential volatility.

These are some of the reasons I want to move to Vermont. Not all of them, but some. I want a change to a more cohesive community life, a less disturbing environment and a more natural lifestyle.

I totally understand what you mean about going some place that is more calm. That is my feeling also. Yes crowds for some reason seem to bring out the worst in people. Even something like Christmas shopping, I have seen people start fighting...I was first..no I was..blah blah blah...it is really sad to see just how disgusting people can be, over nothing really.

There are fireworks at the Harness Airport in Springfield and during the summer, the Vermont Symphony (summer orchestra) has concerts peppered throughout the State and they always have fireworks. In addition to classics I think they are performing West Side Story and they always do the 1812 Overture with fireworks. I think they are performing at Ascutney Resort (Ascutney-Weathersfield) tomorrow, Grafton Ponds (Grafton) and in a few days they will be performing in Ludlow at Okemo/Jackson Gore. Lots of times, people bring picnics and enjoy a long evening.
