OTOH, this summer my brother had to kick on his furnace a couple days. (Then again, he is far right leaning and may have done so more to prove a point.)

The climate does change. For a couple years there were skating parties on the River Thames, the Sahara used to be grass and forest. There were ice ages. As George Carlin used to say, eventually Earth will shake off humans like a bad case of fleas.
One of the few times I've agreed 100% with Harry. Right on, man.

That's an extreme exaggeration. No where in Central America gets that much rain on average. There is one location in Columbia that might, based on estimations. Name of the place is Lloro.

Here's Quibdo, officially the wettest town in S. America. Note that they get over 300 inches per year and over 300 days see precipitation.

I live in almost the center of that map. Still have some flower pots out, and basil, parsley, and chard, chives still in the garden bed. At this point I’m ready clean the garden bed out anyway.

I have these mums that just thrive in the cold.

Thanksgiving week I put away all of the lawn equipment and take out the snow removal equipment. Every so often I get caught with snow before I get a chance to do that, but rarely. Too many leaves to do it earlier.

We have always made the most of winter, but I have to admit I enjoy the cold and length of the season less each year. Nevertheless, bring on Old Man Winter.

We're going to start stacking wood closer to the house and on the front porch this week. But we've fired up that wood stove a couple times already. This morning up here it's 35 degrees.
We might have several good days in a row here and on Friday I think they said it will be 68 degrees! yowza

Crazy weather for sure. Snows don't go on til Nov 19 (I was late getting an appointment) but we'll see.

It's coming!

Another season, another flood. I know that ice dams have caused problems in the past, but this flooding event is unlike anything I experienced in over thirty years of living in the state. Looks like some of the mitigation and partial solutions are doing diddly squat.

The real solutions to the flood problems (flood walls in key areas, rebuilding critical highways uphill from the low lying areas they currently occupy, dredging some of the rivers) will never fly with the legislature and environmental groups.
