-11 in Rutland, -25 windchill. Looks like we've finally gotten some normal VT winter weather this year, unlike last year. But I read a forecast suggesting possibly in the 40's next week so we'll see...

I'm hoping this cuts down on the bugs next year some.

Cambium, or others, can anyone recommend an outdoor thermometer that will be pretty accurate, not too ugly and not too expensive? We had a Taylor dial thermometer that broke (reads way off all the time). Are non-mercury tube thermometers accurate?

They make them pretty good now a days especially the digital ones. I dont have a specific reommendation but if you're buying one why not get an entire weather station that does temps, winds, rain amount, and barometer? This is the one I have which I will be upgrading soon. Good starter one which has been reliable and easy. You can view the outside conditions on your computer or on the console. These were the temps at 8am this morning. Not the actual lows but close. Watched Vermont struggle to get out of single digits today. BDL Airport in CT got to 0 this morning.

Wow.
Burlington and probably most areas were 20-22 degrees below normal for the highs and lows.

This is crazy weather for sure. Yesterday morning we were -10 below, today we are 40 degrees warmer and the prediction for this coming week is mid 40's and rain.

The NWS in Burlington has a banner at the top of it's page stating that 2012 was their warmest year on record.
