I saw them around the streams and ponds, but wasn't bitten yet. I hope the black flies don't come out early too...

it would be nice if they hatched and then we got a freeze

Ok folks, enjoy it til Tuesday then expect snow. I bought a snowblower in November and gave you a great winter. I left for FL and broughtt you the great weather. Coming home Tuesday, so expect, I'd say 2 to 3 feet of snow.

This weekend we started work on painting the exterior of our house. One side all prepped and ready for the final coat. Crazy.

Harpoon, we're changing over to summer tires on Tuesday so that's bound to bring a ton of snow too.

I'm in Florida now. Guess I didn't need to spend all this $$$ for a warm weather vacation!

Outdoor spring clean up and pruning is just about done. This is wild. I have spring bulbs 3-4 inches tall and perennials are just coming up. The pool is still frozen, but the ground is completely thawed. We turned the soil in the garden yesterday.

Our bulbs aren't coming up yet, but our lilac bush is budding. I'm hoping they don't bloom before the next freeze. That happened last year and I lost all of our blossoms.

My friend who has a CSA planted all of her seeds this weekend, but they're safe in her greenhouse.

We have buds on our lilacs, blueberries and the roses. The USDA zone changes for Vermont are holding true.

I spent the day stacking wood wearing only shorts and boots. Nice little sunburn going on. Took the dogs for a couple of good walks. Our cats headed off on spring break.

I say enjoy it while you can. You just know that next year it will revert back to the more normal winter weather pattern and you'll be buried under snow and ice until April. As far as buds on the trees, and bulbs coming up well, it IS spring on the 20th!
