I will be moving to the Upper Valley this spring or summer to be near family. I am retired and single and not a rural person, so I am looking for a home in a neighborhood-type area that is fairly close to shopping and other amenities, and where I can go out the door and take my dog for a walk on a sidewalk or paved road.
NH real estate taxes are way over my budget so I have been searching homes on the VT side of the river where my modest income will allow me to pay reduced taxes.

I have been looking at homes in two WRJ neighborhoods and would appreciate comments and opinions from anyone who knows the area. I’m open to other suggestions as long as the master bedroom is on the main level.

Hemlock Ridge off of Christian St (Rt 5) near the Norwich border. There are townhouses and some of the smaller single homes that look nice.

Sterling Springs off Bugbee St. Some of the smaller single homes in that neighborhood might work for me.

Thanks all.

I know nothing about WRJ, but maybe you'd want to check the big hotel there downtown. It's possible that they have what you're looking for. I think it's called the Hotel Coolidge.

Also, check with the Bugbee Senior Center in WRJ; I'm sure that they'd have info you would find very helpful. Good luck!
