Hi Members,

Going to Mount Snow Friday mid-morning. Mapquest says to take 91 to 112 North. What about 91 to 9 west? Which do you think is better? Is one faster? or more scenic?

Tx

I would consider taking I-87 north through Albany, then US 7 to 9. You avoid possible delays along 91 in Connecticut, including New Haven and Hartford, which always have the potential for trouble.

We drove 87 through Albany recently and I think there is some construction right in the Albany-Troy area, but I like to avoid Hartford when I can.

It seems like the long way 'round, but I would recommend this route as well. 95 or the Merit up to 91 can be hell, especially if it is a Friday night. Ditto for Hartford. I did the Stowe trip from the city a lot, and always went out to NJ and up 87 and cut across in northern NY/Vermont rather than trying 91.

Get over to NJ, up to 287, then up I-87 and follow directions above. Should take you max 4 hours at "skier speed".

If the weather is good, or just to break up the trip, take the Berkshire Spur of the Thruway (I-90) out to Route 22 North, to Route 7 and then to Route 9 at Bennington, across Vermont, and up Route 100 to Mt Snow.

Never been to Mt Snow? Good skier? Get around to the North Face. The crowds stay on the front side, so you will have the place to yourself. No lines; great skiing.

Enjoy.
