I see some deals on houses around Green Mountain National Forest is this area super impoverished? is it totally rural like living in middle of nowhere? I like the idea of living within a days drive of Boston but know nothing about NH

The Green Mountain National Forest is not in NH at all. That would be the White Mountain National Forest.

I don't think any areas around the Green Mountain National Forest qualify as impoverished. Most of the towns containing the forest's lands are quite rural. Some are rather isolated and have almost no residents year-round (Glastenbury and Somerset come to mind) but not impoverished. Where are you looking? Be aware if you buy property on a forest service road or an old class 4 town road it probably won't be plowed in winter.

I think you're looking in NH around the White Mountains not the Green Mountains in VT. There's no Hanover in VT.

Warren and Dover, Vermont are ski resort towns. Lots and lots of second home owners. Inns, restaurants, etc. Hanover NH is a college town (Dartmouth). All are pretty nice and not what I would consider "impoverished", though poverty does exist everywhere.

Right, Hanover has a pretty high avg income for northern NH, and Dover is a small "city"

Warren, VT is nice if I do say so myself

I'm not sure what sort of deals you will find on houses - it's all relative I guess.

Saw an article that said that region was worst in USA on wood smoke. I am in N Idaho and that is one of the reasons I am thinking of leaving here (even though I love it here). Are there some areas better than others in that respect?
