Hey,
I was wondering if there is anyone out there from the East Coast / New England, that moved to Colorado, and then moved back East happily? It seems like everyone I meet that has had this experience has been disapointed in their move back to New England. I am thinking about doing it to be closer to family again...your experiences and advice would be really helpful!
Thanks,
S

Funny- I was talking to a woman about places we'd lived and she was shocked that I had never lived in CO. Seems you are supposed to live out there for awhile especially if you are from VT. I know lots of folks who have and moved back never heard any bad about returning although as I understand it the job situation is much better out there.

For me it was not Colorado, but Alaska. NY to NH to AK and then here to VT. It's hard to say if it's the right move because it really depends on the person and what they desire. We came back east primarily due to regional roots, familiy, and just realizing that we did not want to grow old in Ak. Other variables which come into play are of course employment and the economy. I knew I would take a big hit in the employment area, but did not factor in the events of the past year which will cause a major adjustment in retirement planning and dreams. If I were ten to fifteen years younger I would probably look at the Rockies states.

Thanks for your replies! Ya, mustmove, I remember when I lived in MA there was this understood connection between vermont and colorado - like they were the same place, just one in the east, and one in the west. Funny. About the job situation - it still all depends on what you do...I wouldn't say it's any worse or better out here right now.

Flu189, why wouldn't you consider a move to the rocky mountain states now if things in new england are looking bleak?
