Yeah, I'd argue actually that Vermont is a bit crowded now. Years ago the population was IIRC below 400,000 and had been for a long time. hat was before the 60's invasion of the state.

Oddly enough though from figures I've seen Vermont has more land area than MA (that is if you exclude water area and only count land from each), so the state could hold a lot of people, but, I certainly don't want MA's population density.

I don't think vermont is crowded at all, and I also don't think that vermont will ever be as populated as ma state.

those two areas you just mentioned are tiny compared to the adirondacks and northern maine.

I sure hope so. Just pointing out that there ARE other sparsely populated areas.

Of course there are, just pointing out that the daks and northern maine are one of the biggest sparse areas in the east of the mississippi river

The area around Snowshoe, WV (ski area) also has a very low population density- mostly NATL forest lands.

Burlington isn't crowded at all. Maybe it's perspective, but the new north end is suburban, plenty of space, and even downtown there are still yards. It's not like its Brooklyn or Somerville, MA or something.
