Considering The Sims series has now become the best-selling computer game (and possibly all software for that matter) series of all time, I'm sure I'm not alone with my excitement for the eventual release of The Sims 3. Please use this thread to pitch your ideas or suggestions for what you'd like to see implemented in the new installment of this "God-like" series. Here are my ideas:
  1. Believe it or not, EVERYBODY in the world doesn't live in a sterile suburb. I'd appreciate the ability to be able to custom-make my OWN neighborhood maps and draw up my own lots, as a true urban planner. I like how The Sims 2 incorporated mixed-use zoning into its otherwise sterile suburban enclaves by permitting you to designate a lot as being either residential or community (parks, small businesses), but I've been hankering to raise my sims in an alternative to the 'burbs. I'd like to draw up a flat, grid-shaped map and then have my sims live in townhomes, brownstones, lofts, etc. I believe "The Urbz" version of the game for consoles touched upon this, but the PC version fell short.
  2. I know this would probably crash most people's PC's, but has anyone else ever thought it would be cool to follow your sims to work? Perhaps you could direct them to complete different objectives at their workplace, and then your daily pay is based upon how much of your goals get accomplished, with a bonus being awarded for 100% completion of daily workplace objectives. You could play pranks on co-workers, gossip about the boss, break the coffee maker, chit-chat around the water cooler, etc.

Well, that's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure I have many more ideas. Please feel free to share yours as well!

I probably won't be able to get The Sims 3. I can barely even play the Sims 2 (it always makes my computer overheat and shut down).

I like your ideas though. My suggestion would be to have user control over animals as well (I've always wanted to be able to get interactive with the pets while the owners are at work/school).

I love the idea about being able to interact with your sim at work

I would love for it to be online (i have a lot of friends that play) so that way we could visit each other.

I bought the complete Sims collection (the first one) and don't play it too much b/c it runs slow on my computer (which isn't all that old to begin w/ and has a decent video card and RAM). not sure if these issues have been address in the second game, but I always had a lot of trouble w/ time in the game. it apparently takes my Sims nearly 4 hours to get up, shower, eat a full meal, and get to work. it was very hard making time for fun stuff and my Sims always ended up miserable in the end (I killed off a lot of Sims that were plagued by the Clown, have literally shut them in their houses w/ no food, water, toilets, and w/ hazardous appliances, which is kind of fun in a very morbid way ). last time I played, all of my Sims were too miserable to learn anything and too broke to keep going to the amusement park, so I just stopped playing.

it would be nice to have some kind of goals. I've always been a fan of "tycoon" games and love how most give you scenarios to complete and a freeform platform to goof around w/. I hope the Sims has something similar in part 2 or part 3

biggest thing I would love is to be able to play the game w/o it crashing my system. this game is a serious memory hog!

I guess i should consider myself lucky - that i dont have any problems with the game running... The funniest things to me is when the repo man comes and takes over your stuff because you havent paid your bills... I love this game there is always something to do ... I do agree with EEVEE once you've done all the things like eat sleep and go potty its seems like your sims is ready to go eat sleep and go potty again....

I always wondered about the sterile suburbs in the game. Where do they base these neighborhoods on? I've never actually seen one in real life. Too sterile is life-sucking but then is too ugly. Well, in real life it's mostly too ugly and messy.

I wish they would put something like Sim City 4 and the Sims 3 together so you could build roads, highways, ect. and control your sim. That way i could build a shopping mall. Also have a part where you could make store signs and change the font.

Yeah, I've always wanted to dictate my Sim in a work environment, or maybe school - that would be very nice. I hope we can do this in The Sims 3, but I just bought my fifth copy of two (don't ask how all the others were destroyed, it's a very long story), so I won't be able to get the new game for a while.
