I like to play Grand Theft Auto games, but I am not inspired to commit any crime. I'm smart enough to distinguish between fantasy and real and know that I will have to suffer the consequences if I do so. If they aren't smart enough (or ignorant) to know that, they shouldn't play Grand Theft Auto games.
For those of you who partly answered that the game lets you explore the world, what do you think of the MS Flight Simulator series? You can do quite a bit more exploring, without murdering people.
I have a question about GTA, not directly related to the game. I'm a collector of maps. Is there someplace that sells copies of the Liberty City subway map?
The Liberty City subway map comes with every game.
-It's one of the few games that lets you play as an anti-hero if not an outright villain, a refreshing change of pace from the overdone stereotypical good guy saving the world gig....
-performs as a great stress reliever
-the deep involving story
*goes back to GTAIV marathon*
For me it probably the radio stations, random crusin, NPCs, trying to get to 6 stars with out getting caught.
In San Andreas I also got a kick out of walking like a normal pedestrian, approaching other pedestrians, hearing their comments, and the eliciting either positive or negative responses based upon my own reaction. ?
To me those or some of the best part or GTA the conversations on the street and the random comments by the pedestrians lol....Red Dead had some of that too.
Could somebody please explain the appeal of these games? Is the U.S. becoming a nation of wannabe car-jackers?
No more than I want to be a lone Special Forces operative vs an entire army, a galaxy trotting space fighter, wizard or bikini clad hand-to-hand fighter with gigantic boobs.
I know this is an old thread but hasn't the OP heard of "fantasy escapism?"
