"The Atlantic" magazine did TWO stories a few years ago praising the comeback of Danville. Its downtown residential population has increased from near zero, to a few hundred now, as old industrial buildings are converted to loft apartments. A new YMCA fitness center has lowered the obesity of both black and white users, (and includes free babysitting for those exercising). The city also has a big initiative to convert all its schools and municipal buildings to Solar power. And now the coming casino.
Danville is also commutable to Greensboro and Burlington NC and to a lesser extent Durham NC. More may come that way with real estate in the NC cities getting more ridiculous.
