I'm currently living in PG county now. But I have a 3 year old daughter and I want to move to another county in MD for better school for her. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better county for preschools and what school that may be??

For a kid that young there's no rush to move. PG does okay with the young kids. We went to Montgomery when our oldest was ready for middle school. We are quite happy we did.

Well if you want to be technical you could just lick your finger put it in the air and move to wherever the wind blows and find a better school system. The schools here are rock bottom. That's not to say all the schools are bad but the overall majority are. If you really do want to move out of the county, you may have to give us a bit more information, because cost becomes a factor.

Do you have a price range?
Are you looking for a house, townhome, condo, or are you renting?
Are you concerned about demographics?
Is the commute for you or your spouse/significant other an issue?

My wife and I will probably be looking for a house around 300K. The commute will not be an issue. We would like to focus on the best schools for our daughter.

For 300K for a house, your best bet is Charles County. Anything else will be out of your price range.

House in Gaithersburg for 300K. Decent for Maryland.

17610 Silver Dollar Court, Gaithersburg MD | MLS# MC7504104 - Trulia

There are a ton of homes in Moco for under 300K. They're not as nice as PG but then there's got to be a trade off for good schools somewhere.

Northern High School in Calvert County is one of the best in the state. May be worth a look.

Anne Arundel County has excellent pre-school programs, the trick is getting into one at public schools (some are income restricted like Park Elementary). My children both went to Pre-K at an Anne Arundel County Elementary school. It's free as opposed to a private pre-school and they had wonderful teachers.

And good for you for moving out of PG because of your daughters schooling!!!

To open up more options for places to live you can always rent in better school districts even if you can't afford to buy a home there. There are definitely many families that do that around here.
