A light intra rail might be expensive but would connect Tanger to (MGM &) National Harbor. Seems like that investment would pay for itself over a series of years. There is no way people will ever feel the development is cohesive without some recurring transportation that will assure them they can get back and forth in a timely manner.

It was noted in MGM's presentation that they would have a trolley system in place when/if they come on board. They also currently have shuttles that move people back and forth to the harbor frequently during center hours. A lightrail may come eventually when they decide to do another expansion of the metro system but that won't be a self-contained system as it will connect with the yellow and/or the green line.

Peronally, not having a bonifide food court is not a biggie for me since I don't stay at a shopping mall/center/whatever to get hungry but can understand that others have different needs. I don't think there will ever be an extensive option onsite but do believe that options will be built near the center (e.g. Harborview Center, MGM, etc). Remember they really want to promote the restaurants at the harbor and extend the stay of visitors. They are definitely noticing though. There was a sign across the street pointing out that NH has over 30 food options. That's not going to help those that want to eat and shop in close proximity.
It is really inconvenient to go all the way to NH for food. I go out to shop and get lunch, like many other people. I'll often shop around for an hour, stop for lunch, then continue browsing stores.

While Tanger won't add more food options they would be smart to add some stand alone restaurants closer in proximity. I'm willing to bet that NH hasn't seen a big spike in people going to the restaurants. Any spike probably has more to do with the new ice rink etc...

I'm surprised at the number of folks complaining about lack of food options at the outlets. Most outdoor outlet malls have few food options if any. Again, I've been to Prime Outlets and Tanger up and down the eastern seaboard and the food options have always been slim to none. I'm not sure if some people just aren't used to outdoor outlet shopping?

The only time that there are food options is if the outlet is in or near a larger shopping area that has restaurant pads. I'm sure Tanger just assumed they would go with their normal business model. Which usually includes locations outside of urban areas. So, maybe they need to look at NH shoppers differently?

It would be nice to have some restaurant pads nearby.

Though it would be cost prohibitive, I see what you mean. What comes to mind is the monorail at Disney. But to fund something like that, NH, MGM, and Tanger would have to have the visitor numbers year round that a lot of top tourist sites enjoy. I just don't see that happening with the number of slow periods at NH. Maybe after MGM comes that will improve, but I just don't see that many people willing to pay $ to park and then pay $ to ride a rail system to MGM or Tanger.

A buddy of mine was saying the same thing the other day but like you said it would be cost prohibitive

Does anyone know what they are doing at the school next to the Outlet. They seem to be doing some type of construction. Is it related to the Oxon Hill Road Project or is it something else? Also why is the road closed for Oxon Hill Manor?

Told you it would be here before you know it. I wonder if they'll have the meetings online like last time. It would be nice to see the responses of the applicants. I'm also waiting on the possible interior designs of the MGM resort. Walking into MD Live is kind of uninspiring.
