Right now there are 3 builders selling townhouses at the Crown West development. I am curious about the single family homes. According to the brochure I picked up, it says that 59 single family homes are coming soon to Crown West. It also says that single family homes will be available in Crown East in 2015.

Does anyone have any idea how much these single family homes will cost? I know there are other new developments in Gaithersburg selling single family homes, and the prices range from $600K to over $900K. I wonder if the single family homes at Crown will be closer to $600K or $900K, or if they will have some at all price points.

Who are the builders? I think it would be smart to have a range of home prices available, rather than all high-end homes.

They haven't announced who the builders will be. I found one real estate agent online who thinks the single family homes will start at $1 million. I don't know if he has inside information or if he's just throwing out a wild guess.

The new Townhomes across Sam Eig and on either side of Diamondback Dr. went for 600+ thousand, so I would imagine the single family homes will cost more than that.

I saw this in the Washington Bizjournal: "Crown Farm was originally purchased by KB Home of Maryland and Centex Homes in 2005 for $137 million. After interest carry, entitlement costs and proffers, the total project costs ballooned to $220 million, according to Samit."

I know there was a bankruptcy and a new developer, however, they will have to re-coup their expenses through high-end (and high profit) houses.

The cheapest townhomes in crown itself for sale right now start around $600k, I think the SFH's will probably start above 900

I found a drawing on this page where it shows all 59 SFHs in Crown West: Crown - Homes - New Homes in Montgomery County, Maryland

If the drawing is accurate, then yeah they will be very expensive, since each SFH is almost as big as 3 townhouses!

My understanding is that a new high school will be built, but until then I assumed they were zoned to Wootton or Quince Orchard. Anyone know?

I wouldn't bank on the speculation of a new school. And it is currently zoned to Gaithersburg High. See Here.
