Here's one similarity between Ann Arbor and College Park. They both are perfect for light rail.

It's exciting.
I must say I like the progress after the 5 year delay during the recession. All of this is happening within the span of 10 years and not 25 to 40 years which is the normal amount of time for these transformations to take place.

There are unprecedented amounts of money being invested in this area that also includes the investments in the Prince George's Plaza area. It's unreal. I'm glad I'm in the middle of it and still relatively young enough to enjoy it after things slow down.

The next corridor to be transformed is University BLVD toward Takoma Park. The Purple Line will run run up the spine of the road. It will be interesting to see how fast things change, if at all. But seeing what is going on elsewhere, I'm sure developers will swoop down and take advantage of the cheap land prices in the area now that there will be a transit link in the area.

Default Terrapin Row Retail

Anyone know what retail will be coming to the New Terrapin Row? They are putting the finishing touches on the project. The containment fences are starting to come down around the property. Landscaping around and throughout the project is about 60% complete. An August opening is a short 4 months away. It would be nice to hear about the potential tenants. From the earlier renderings it looks like they want to have a restaurant/and or cafe there.

Also, the rendering below is kind of distorted. It looks as if the steps in the background are farther than what they really are. Pull the background forward about 50 feet. The "central park" is not that deep and wide. Or the people are just smaller in the rendering than they should be. But this central plaza area is smaller in real life.

It would be nice if they had recorded a video of it. Also, not much meat in that article. Nothing we don't already know.

A buddy of mine went to this and there wasn't a whole lot of meat to begin with. However for the average person not tapped into what's going on in the county, it provided insight into the direction they are going and how PG/College Park is progressing in a post Johnson era.
