It is above. Funny, I don't consider the traffic that bad. Then again, I know how to get around now so I'm not stuck. But I can see a future where it would be terrible.

Funny though this project started last year. In the fall of last year they "upgraded" the road from two lanes to one and I was beside myself. I thought it was so darn stupid.

Then I received the email from our management team with the new maps and it all made sense. I'm on the side where traffic will be reduced but I don't see/hear traffic now so no biggie.

I'm happy they are making moves before it gets really bad (even for me).

But I can see them doing this in trying to move people from Branch metro to NH and the casinos. This new structure will give them an easy shot to the highway. Cabbies as well.

* Konterra Town Center is coming together nicely
* Development in Upper Marlboro & Capitol Heights has come along nicely
*Ritchie Station Marketplace and the other Marketplace across from it is coming together nicely
*Heck we finally got a WAWA, Sonic (Kevin Durant started doing promo's for them and we got one, coincidence?) and a Krispy Kreme!
*Westphalia Town Center is a massive development coming underway
*Woodmore Town Center is filling out to completion
*The new Prince Georges Hospital Center is being developed
*The new FBI Building will eventually land in the county
*National Harbor is reaching maturity
*The new MGM will be the capstone for the Harbor
*The Tangier Outlets finally brought some reasonable retail back to the county
*The Brandywine Crossing has been a huge success
*Along with it all the new housing developments along route 5 south of the beltway leading all the way down to Brandywine have been coming along nicely
*In fact there are new houses being shoved in nearly every free spot in the county.

As a life long resident I am proud to see these developments move from dreams and visions to realities. Now is an excellent time to invest in the county as things continue to build. My only conern is to ensure the roads can keep up with the traffic demands. We still need some nice finishing touches but we are more than well on its way.
Do people realize Jack Johnson is the reason PG has a tripple bond rating? Where is there a Krispy Kreme in PG?

A triple A bond rating doesn't mean squat if you can't produce any economic activity.

In fact the two really aren't connected.

Shouldn't Rushern, I mean Positive Control, be running the County right now?

Whats the over under on when we will possibly see a major Hampton Park mall redevelopment? Would be nice to see some more infill residential development right in that stretch.

Imagine that will take some time to get "Major" Redevelopment, That is a nice location but it would take more housing growth in the area to fix that. I have no idea what happened to that A&W / Long John Silver right there, they just closed for a while, I dont know if they have come back or what. That Home Depot will stay there, and Food 4 Life & Sardi's is just an awesome local treasure, the rest is up for grabs.

cheduled March 25-27. SHA will use the same lane closures and detours for vehicular bridge deck (driving surface)
fork in mid-April (weather and progress permitting). The $37 million MD 5 Interchange Construction project is

Thanks. My mom lives in Camp Springs. Before the last traffic improvement at that location, there used to be horrific accidents at that location. Glad they are doing even more improvements.

I must stand corrected. I just had a neighbor tell me about the redevelopment plans for Hampton Park listed here: Capitol Heights MD: Hampton Park - Retail Space - KLNB Retail

the Hampton Park (Kingdom Square) commercial space located directly before the 495 access, is between the initial and pre-construction stages which is by estimates 2 years out. The plans call for an additional hotel, retail anchors, the new PG county Dept. of Health and Human Services headquarters, and other mixed-use development. (See plans here: Hampton Park Plans

I walked the area around 9 pm or so Friday night... I did not know the project is actually hitting a lot of the side streets leaving the metro. New stop lights are going up (where stop signs were), the road is going to be fairly huge leaving the metro. I'm very happy to have lights since the hotels over here host many out of town visitors all year round... they are always walking to and from the hotels. The traffic is very light at night so not a huge issue, but having lights will make things easier for them.

In other words, it looks like they are doing it right.

I can't wait to see the changes.
