If not Springfield, Quantico, itself, would be the most logical and secure place for the FBI headquarters. With the nearby towns of Stafford, Woodbridge, Dumfries, Triangle, and Fredericksburg offering nice communities, affordable housing, and a good quality of life for employees and their families.

Yes, but early on in the thread that was one of the reasons why the HQ should be located in Greenbelt, a "fairness" thing.

True but I wonder if the fear is that would place them too far away from downtown D.C. Also.. Dumfries and Woodbridge don't have the best reputation.

The fix is in. Criteria had been modified to make VA the best landing site. Now proximity to Quantico matters.

“It’s outrageous and disappointing,” Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan told WTOP this week. "It feels as if somebody is trying to sandbag the process and either rig it toward Virginia or trying not to move at all. It was on the two-yard line and they’ve now kicked (Greenbelt and Landover) out of the stadium.”

This may be the only time that I agree with Hogan. The metrics as they stand make it such a long shot that it'll go to Greenbelt with proximity to Quantico as the FBI and GSA's main weight. Springfield would need to be in last place for every other metric on their scoring card, and even then, could still beat Greenbelt by 5 points and certainly Landover by more points. The three anonymous judges may bump up Springfield's points even more for the "proximity to airport" metric, with the Silver Line to Dulles opening up by Thanksgiving.

The GSA including the racial equity piece halfheartedly but saying the sites won't even be compared with one another for only that metric is just enough to comply with Biden's racial justice executive order and avoid a lawsuit. I wonder where they'll move the CIA warehouse in Springfield if the FBI demolishes it to move in, maybe Greenbelt?

I’m not even surprised. I was just waiting to see how they would ensure Virginia got it. God forbid PG gets a leg up.

Maybe a finger up. Virginia still gets the lion's share of corporate locations in this area. Even in MD, pretty much everything west of Georgia Ave. has had most of the spoils.

Which finger? Why ever even consider PG if they’re just going to do this every time? Disgusting!
