What do you think about Annapolis? Is it commutable to D.C. even though it's 30 miles away and very accessible by Highway 50?

Annapolis is very nice, I have no reservations about it in terms of livability, but in rush hour traffic it will take 45-60 min to get to DC. Just something to consider...
It kills me how people constantly underestimate commute times.

From Bowie to be at work in DC at 8 a.m. morning rush takes every bit of an hour so there's no way you can count on Annapolis to DC (Galludet) consistently being an hour (certainly not under) -- not if you want to be sitting at your desk working. Now if you can just be arriving at work it still might take 1:05 to 1:10

I agree with ya. That's why I urge the op to check out D.C., P.G. and Silver spring/Takoma Park. I was sitting here reading the post thinking the same thing. I'm like wait a minute, maybe they have a secret new route that I don't know about. Or these people are on the road by 5:15 am. Then maybe I could see it. Good call slim.

I did notice how of all the places she listed Prince George's County was (NOT SO, perhaps) obviously omitted. Anytime to talk about what a quick commute to DC, and name places in MontCo and skip all the way out to Odenton, Columbia and Crofton there's no way to NOT notice you totally (and intentionally?) left out PG County.

Same for some people who are the first to post an answer and name 6-10 places all in MD -- none in PG County.

Unless I'm just paranoid, of course.

And again I love how so many people talk about wanting a commute that's under an hour in RUSH HOUR -- and name places that take 45 mins NOT in rush hour. PEOPLE: IN RUSH HOUR IT CAN TAKE AN HOUR TO GO LESS THAN 20 MILES!! Stop it with the underestimating of the travel times.
