You must not know a single lawyer or lobbyist (which is literally 100% impossible living in DC).

Um...Farragut, Metro Center, McPherson Square, Foggy Bottom, Chinatown, Dupont Circle, Capitol Hill, Tyson's Corner, Bethesda, Alexandria, etc.

Half of all households earn more than $108K. Half earn below. The median salary for all White, non-Hispanics above the age of 16 is $62,310. In Philly, my hometown, that figure is $35,261.

You need to learn the difference between median and mean.

A lot of lawyers, lobbyists, academics and medical people. A lot of "old" money in DC, and the area overall, too.

It is common for federal government jobs to pay more than 60k, depending on your educational qualifications and years of experience.

It depends on what you are doing. IT folks...programmers, testers, analysts, DBAs, technical writers, is a good start.

I don't know your background. I did science policy and now I am in IT as an analyst.

I should go on the fact there are analyst and specialist positions, and manager positions, etc.

It really depends how technical you are, and/or how comfortable you are with math. I don't know what you are looking at, what's your qualifications?

This is an astounding statistic. Can you ask you where you found it? Could you tell me what the numbers are for Baltimore?

This is consistent though with my experience in DC -- I never met anyone who was white and didn't have a college degree, if not a graduate degree. In Baltimore, that is def. not the case.

I am wondering where you found it too.

The percentage for Baltimore is 49.3%. The numbers you need for the calculation are in Census Report B15002A. Since the last available information is from 2012, Baltimore may be at 50% as of now.

"College degree" doesn't do much for you. "College degree in a relevant field from a good university" is what the label should say. A basket weaving degree from Slippery Rock isn't going to get you a job in Washington.
