Go to Eastern Market for breakfast. It's something I've always wanted to do, but haven't gotten around to yet. Also nearby you can try Ambar. I went there recently for happy hour and it was fantastic (Balkan small plates, good happy hour specials).

If you haven't yet, I'd also recommend trying Ethiopian or Eritrean food. Hard to find elsewhere, and all over the place here. Dahlak (in Adams Morgan) has live jazz on Sunday nights.

Do you like beer? If so, you can try out all the local DC breweries (there's also one in Silver Spring, Denizens, that's supposed to be good).

I could probably think of more recommendations, but you've also gotten some great ideas from others.

There is! Sadly it's still so cold, but in a few months they should all open up. Thompson's is nice if you want to see the memorials (near Georgetown waterfront, on a Sunday afternoon I've been able to park in the little metered lot for free), then there's Key Bridge Boathouse in Georgetown and Fletcher's further up the river (more nature instead of city). They're all around the same price, so it's just whatever feel you're going for.

If you're interested in boating, I'd also check out DC Sail (sailing club, pretty reasonable and nice people) and some of the rowing/paddling clubs. I'm in a dragon boating club which is a ton of fun (DC Dragon Boat Club - we've got all ages, super friendly group, you can come to 3 beginner practices for free before committing).

I agree with Ambar. I recommend their brunch on weekends which includes bottomless mimosas and several plates for around $35.
