I saw a 20 year old chart of suicides per 100,000 people for various parts of Washington. The Pullman area was the lowest (10) while the Northern Olympic peninsula area was the highest (25).

Even the coastal area from Seattle to Canada was fairly low and they get more rain and gray skies.

Hey you Pullman area folks, why are you guys so happy? I would think the view of only rolling hills of brown wheat fields in all directions would encourage you to take hemlock.

I really am curious.

Twenty-year-old data? Or twenty-year-old people committing suicide?

Are college students included at their college residences?

Was the rest of the state closer to the low end or the high end?

Neither. A 20 year old chart.

Suicides by white men per hundred-thousand living people.Areas that are mostly white would have higher rates. Areas with few whites should have very low rates.

I can understand the higher rate being in the Northern Olympic peninsula. That would be Forks. Enough said. As for Pullman, they are happy because they drink a lot of beer.

Whitman County is just about the only place within WA where I'd be driven to want to off myself.

No, the rate would be the same regardless of the non-white population. It's only comparing the number of suicides per 100,000 white people. It doesn't include numbers for non-white people at all

White men, or white people? How do you know? On the link it says, "suicides per 100,000 living people." You aren't the one who posted the link, so I guess I don't see the same information you see.

Here is a recent article from the local paper regarding the suicides.
Peninsula baby boomer suicide rates among state’s highest; Clallam No. 1 -- Port Angeles Port Townsend Sequim Forks Jefferson County Clallam County Olympic Peninsula Daily news

I don't know why it is so high, the article alludes to the area being rural--idk, I find the cities more depressing.
