We woke to snow as well, which accumulated on the grass and trees and now is melting.

Took some videos of the snow, but I'm tucked away in the burbs. No Seattle skyline views for me-- only the tops of the trees (which are still pretty cool since we have west facing windows in the front, and east facing windows in the back).

I've heard about those early blooming cherry blossoms. I actually saw a photo someone posted of a cherry blossom with snow on it! This has been a wild winter with El Nino warm-ups and then the snow, that's for sure.

Another big windstorm last night (lots of branches down), heavy rain and then it started snowing this morning, but that melted. It's just overcast now.

Back to 40s day/30s night, on and off gusting winds with random show or ice pellet showers in between rain showers. Kind of chilly yucky March weather with branches coming down when the wind gets brisk.

You can hear chainsaw sounds in the neighborhood as people start clearing up fallen trees/branches.

We fly out of PDX yesterday and the wind was tossing our smallish plane around. It was nice to see the sun once we climbed above the storm and upon landing in San Jose. We're getting hit by the atmospheric river down here in Monterey now with wind and rain. But temps are still in the upper 50s with more sunbreaks in between. Upon arriving at the coast, we were greeted with big rainbow over the ocean. It's a nice little warm up trip the place we raised our family.

The family is flying back in Monday when there is another chance for snow in Vancouver/PDX. I'll hang out here a bit longer to catch more sun next week before returning. I figured as long as I'm down here, I may as well stay a while.

It was around 35 degrees and snowing this morning, but since we're near sea level, it didn't stick. Skies are heavily gray.

Now it's a mix of ice pellets and wet snow (keeps shifting) which is not fun when blasted by the wind.

Snow is forecasted tonight for Vancouver followed by sunbreaks and warming throughout the week. Everyone is going to be happy to see the sun again after this last blast of winter in early March. This is my favorite time to take trips outside the PNW. While not always possible, it does help to get away.

Here's one from a bit south today while on winter break.

We've had snow flurries the past few days and it's been cold at night, but also a mix of rain. Lots of sun breaks and the snow flakes are pretty to look at and absolutely zero shoveling involved

February's "false spring" has happened to us 2 years in a row now, so I guess that meme that goes around is true for the Seattle area:

Nov-Late Jan= "Big Dark"/ "Big Wet"

Early/Mid Feb= "False Spring"

Late Feb/Mid April= "Big Grey"

Late April-Mid June= "Spring"

Mid June-Mid August- "Nirvana"/"Summer"

Late August= "Smoke Season"

Labor Day: official end of Summer

Mid September-Late October: "Fall"/"Autumn"

We had snow this morning so all area school districts cancelled or were on two hour delay. It was quite beautiful to have snow covering the trees and landscape, but the roads aren't bad at least here with the temp in the 30s above freezing.

The snow is still on roofs and trees and grass but looks like less than an inch.

It's been gray for days.
