FYI, I didn't notice any increase in my energy bills between France and Singapore. This is probably due to the fact that, as I told you several times already, a lot of people in Singapore use air con only in the hottest couple of hours in the afternoon. The rest of the time, your room is perfectly pleasant especially if you open a couple of windows to have a breeze going.

Plus, even if you are indeed deeply allergic to warmth : if you are employed, you won't be home 24/7, 365 days a year will you? Most likely, you will leave home at around 8am and be back somewhere after 5 or 6pm, so most likely you will seldom experience temps over 30°C when you're home.

I am very surprised at the strong dislike towards Singapore's climate as well. Especially that I find it absolutely great myself. This forum will have taught me one thing that I ignored completely, which is that a lot of people actually enjoy cold or dislike hot weather. I thought everyone was like myself, endlessly craving for 30°C weather how wrong I was.
trolling detected. a very sad and delusional neurotic who needs sweat off the miseries of life in the heat.

Try visiting the UK weather forums and you'll see 90% of the people crave snow and cold and detest heat.

Seriously though, I'd say more people hate heat (30C+) but prefer pleasant temperatures between 21C and 27C. On a sunny, windless day even 18C can feel really good.

I imagine that diseases would run rampant in post-apocalyptic Singapore, along with many other subtropical and tropical cities. That's not to say there wouldn't be issues in northern climates, but I'd rather take my chances and deal with the cold. We have more than enough wood to keep warm in the winter.

Take it easy pal.
Is it me or that guy has a problem?

I'm merely expressing doubts about the sincerity of your claims regarding Siberia as the climatic heaven of mankind

"A+ from me, very pleasant climate year round, exactly what I have proposed for an ideal climate. This is where civilization should have started. No wonder why everyone is jealous of the Russians, b/c of the fact that their climate is the best in the world and their work ethics are strongly enhanced by it. If every country in the world had this type of climate, they would all be circling the moon like the Russians."

and now that "everyone would flock to the polar north".

I guess deneb and ColdCanadian are also sad and delusional neurotics? As are millions of French people who impatiently wait for summer every year, and people all over the world who spend their holidays in tropical beach resorts? (Not exactly in the forests of Alaska and Siberia?)

Please go discharge your hatred and grandiose insults somewhere else.

Places where people spend holidays is not necessarily where they would want to live.
Most people are attracted to so-called tropical paradises, as they are often relatively cheap with package deals, easy to get into -ie plenty of airflights, and the warmth is ok to deal with when you are on holidays anyway.
Equatorial climates like Singapore are ony appealling to those that can handle heat on a year round basis.

I think dhdh has a point though.... if polar and subpolar climates truly were the "paradises" of the planet. Then why don't have you have cities with 10 million plus people north of the Arctic circle or in Antarctica?

Why do no people live in Antarctica permanently and only scientists and a few tourists go there?

Then why do poms flock to warm places like Australia to live, or places like Spain or Greece to holiday? Of the many British people I've met most have expressed a decided dislike for their gloomy, chilly but never truly cold climate.

How many people would take a climate like Duluth, Minnesota over San Diego? Come on, in San Diego you can be outdoors ALL YEAR ROUND fairly comfortably, usually in pretty light clothing, while in Minnesota the window for outdoor activities that don't involve snow and/or heavy clothing is 4-5 months at best. Even WITH gas/electrical heating I would be loathe to live in a climate colder than New York City. I take it for granted I can be outdoors anytime of year without feeling like I'm braving the elements.

F. Awful climate - hot and humid year round (with all time minimum 19.4C!). The only reason why it don't get F- is lack of extreme heat (record high is even lower than in my city).

C; a bit too hot and humid for my taste with no seasonal variation but definitely liveable and much preferably to a climate with brutal winters or no sunshine. The thunderstorms would be fun! and as long as I could have AC at home and office, I'd adapt ok to it.
