I understand there are certain medical conditions that may be aggravated by sunlight. I can think of no other reason for desiring such low sunshine hours. How can anyone hate the sun that much? It's kind of like how many people here claim to love temps of -40 or lower or 120 F heat indices -- it's hard to take that kind of thing seriously.
Pot, meet kettle.

I'm used to around 2000 hours to a little more -- I can probably put up with where I'm living now as fairly comfortable to maybe a bit on the cloudy side.

2500 hours and more would be desirable but not to the point where I'd take them for granted and then get bored of sun (Maybe at or over 3000 hours; I've never lived in a place that sunny)?

I'd like maybe a little more than half the possible time to be sunny to maybe two thirds, as an ideal.

I haven't seen the sun all week and honestly, it hasn't bothered me one bit.

Lucky you.

I get slightly cranky (and less productive) when I must endure several 100% sunny days in a row. Unless it's freezing cold anyway, in which case I merely think that there's a bit too much light out there and hope for a dark rainy/snowy day asap (I love the grey nuances of an overcast day).

Preferably above 2000 hours but if the overall weather is very nice, 1500 hours would suffice.

I always thought it was out of the total daylight hours -- 365 days of 12 hours = 4380 hours, and then the sun hours as a percentage of that.

oh very interesting! Thanks.

Weird. The answer to that gives BA a 58.3 % sunshine hours. I would have guess 65 at least since i see that climate at much more sunny than cloudy! I mean, it is, clearly, more sunny, but not as much as i thought.

I notice quite small changes. Last year was 100 hours down on the previous 30-year average, and I certainly noticed; this year threatens to be further "down" and is even more noticeable - a substantial correction is needed in the remaining weeks of the years to cancel even half of that. But the persistence of years at or above the longterm mean over most the last 2 decades makes such changes stand out in more relief.

If your 2533 hours are measured where there are some visual obstructions, you % might be higher, possibly up to say about 62-63. The type of measuring equipment might also limit recording at the start and the end of the day.
