Currently at my location at 34 degrees latitude N, sunrise - sunset times are:
6:43 AM EDT
8:23 PM EDT
Length of day is 13h40m
I can only dream of living in a place that gets light before 5 am, and stays light til 11 - that's pretty much unthinkable this far down in the subtropical latitudes...lol.
This July, I'll be taking a trip to the northermost edge of my country (not counting Alaska of course, going overseas to Europe would actually be closer...lol). At 47 degrees latitude, the sun will set around 9:45 pm, with sunrise around 6:15 am (solar noon 2:00 pm). To me, that'll be an amazing thing to see, and yet it doesn't care to what you guys get at 55, 60, 65 degrees latitude - oh well...lol.
What's the longest day you actually get at 42N? I would guess it's something similar to our 6th May just under ten degrees further north:
Sunrise: 0523
Sunset: 2032
Day length: 15h 9m
very close. Around 15h 15m.
