I wish our sunrises were later, it'd be neat to wake up just before sunrise and see dawn, but 5 am wake up is a challenge. But then again, if our clocks were shifted later, I might stay out a bit later anyway, half hour time shift so solar noon is 1:20-1:30 would be nice.
Yeah, you should take a trip to the west to get your later sunset times.
Here's what you'd see if you go west (while staying within the eastern time zone.):
Syracuse, NY - 5:25 am sunrise, 8:47 pm sunset.
Buffalo, NY - 5:36 am sunrise, 8:57 pm sunset.
Detroit, MI - 5:55 am sunrise, 9:12 pm sunset.
And last, but not least, here's the times for Houghton, MI, about as far west you can go before hitting CST:

No there is not but there is a movement for us to move onto European time. I cannot be bothered with that as I am already 90 minutes ahead of my local time.
I want DST done with totally as I am tired changing the clocks and we do not need it here.
Ireland used to be 30 minutes behind england so if they want to move to European time so be it but I will be sticking to gmt.

Well I don't like changing the clock,if we had permanent dst it would be bright at 10am in the winter which is horrendous. All for brightness extended to a pathetic 5pm, seems like a waste of time (literally) to me.
We will probably end up following SE England though which is incredibly unpractical and unfair. I wish Europe would fix its timezones, they are all WRONG.

You mean they want to put you on the same time Paris is on? If they did that, would they do away with DST, which would essentially mean you'd have DST all year round?
Let's hope they leave things alone - which is what they should have done in the US during the 70's oil crisis, doing DST in winter, and then having school times put forward an hour, but not the TV times. What a mess.
Live with what you've got - it could be a whole lot worse.

That's how I feel when we switch to DST in March, which means we get punished with 8 am sunrises, just so Nei can enjoy a bit extra light in the evening up his way (wink, wink )
Of course, we could do away with time zones altogether, and just have each town have its own time calibrated to solar noon. But that'd be a bit messy, me thinks.
Time is messy, regardless of how you arrange it. I suppose the folks in Chile have it easy, since everyone lives on the same longitude...lol. But in the US and the UK, you always gonna have some unhappy people on the eastern and western edges - it can't be helped.
