I don't remember that many thunderstorms when I lived in Southern China. I'd probably say NOLA gets more than HK if I had to make an educated guess due to a more unstable airmass.

Hong Kong. Warmer winters and warmer summertime lows. Also, less cold snaps.

New Orleans. At least winters can get a little cold with snow once every few years.

New Orleans because of more seasonality and the possiblity of snow. The thunderstorms sound fun but I would NOT want to experience a hurricane like Katrina.

I wouldn't really call having 1 day in 10 years averaging .1" of snowfall as having winters a little cold and snowy every few years. That is the average number of days with a dusting of snow in NOLA. If you raise the amount of snow to 3", NOLA averages a big zero. No days with a 3" or more snowfall.

Still gets snow five times more often than my hometown ( which has colder winter averages but far less standard deviation than New Orleans). Where I live snow acculumating at sea level is a once in fifty year event. In Hong Kong, it's probably in once in 1,000 year event. New Orleans still wins.

I think The Big Easy wins all months except Nov-Jan. Otherwise, too much rain and not enough sun in HK.
