Not a bad day here actually, a bit cold, with a high of only 12°C but some sunny spells.

Sad to see a continuation of cold so late in the year with no pattern change in the forecast yet.

One more "single figure max" or sub 50°F max and we will equal the May of 2010 which had 7, of course that month then heated up nicely in the second half, and this one won't, so we could beat that without difficulty.

The mild, wet and humid (dew points low 60s) air mass is leaving with a bang. Saw the first lightning of the year. Line of angry red about 20 miles to the west of me.

AT 849 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH AND PENNY SIZED HAIL ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 5 MILES EAST OF GREENFIELD TO 12 MILES SOUTHWEST OF CHESTER...OR ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 5 MILES EAST OF GREENFIELD TO 18 MILES NORTHWEST OF HARTLAND...MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH. * SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED INCLUDE...CHESTER...MONTAGUE... WILLIAMSBURG...WHATELY...SUNDERLAND...WENDELL...BL ANDFORD... HUNTINGTON...WESTHAMPTON...LEVERETT...HATFIELD...N ORTHAMPTON... RUSSELL...HADLEY...AMHERST...MONTGOMERY...EASTHAMP TON AND SOUTHAMPTON. THIS STORM WAS PRODUCING FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. GET INDOORS OR INSIDE A VEHICLE NOW! IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE...STAY AWAY FROM ISOLATED TALL OBJECTS SUCH AS TREES. AVOID OPEN AREAS SUCH AS GOLF COURSES AND BALL FIELDS.

It's a true summer pattern; cold front brings only a small drop in daytime highs but much cooler dew points and nights. The cold front comes with a Thunderstorm.

Have you heard any electrical pops? Then you know it's a dangerous storm.
